Farewell Andre and Mercia
Mercia Winkworth started with the union 23 years ago as a receptionist.
As she gained experience, she moved through the ranks and eventually ended up being the Head of Department in the UASA Administration department.
Mercia has two beautiful daughters and two grandchildren and because of their love for the outdoors, she and her husband John decided to tour the country after the opportunity presented itself to John to to leave the service of his employer after 40 years service.
We wish Mercia and John safe journeys and tranquil and enjoyable camping experiences.
Andre Venter started his trade union career in May 1980 as an organizer and later became General Secretary of Salstaff, one of the old Transnet trade unions.
Salstaff amalgamated with UASA in September 2002 and Andre did duty in the Corporate Services department of UASA. He, among other responsibilities, was responsible for media liaison and acted as spokesperson for UASA.
Andre leaves the services of UASA after he decided to go on early retirement and we wish him and his family good luck for the future.
