The National Executive Committee (NEC) of UASA at its meeting held on 9 November 2018 had the unenviable task of interrogating the proposed UASA budget for 2019. In essence, we had to weigh up the total anticipated income of UASA against the anticipated money that will have to be spent over the next year.
The NEC had to contend with the “normal” expenditure items affected by inflation, which includes the higher than inflation increases in the prices of water, electricity and rates and taxes etc.
After a long and hard interrogation of all the facts and figures, the NEC approved the budget that will require membership subscriptions to be increased by 4,3% with effect from end of February 2019. The latter means membership fees will increase by R5.00 to R120.00 per month (R1.25 per week for a 4 week month and R1.00 per week for a five week month).
Our NEC however also approved a very aggressive and trend setting recruitment competition to be launched on 1 January 2019 , watch this space for more information.
