UASA in talks with 1time about the future of union members

It is with utter shock that we have received notification from the CEO of 1 Time Airlines that the airline will be liquidated. UASA, representing  approximately 50 employees at the airline, admires the tenacity and courage of all 1time employees who remained hopeful, even in the face of the fairly new and unknown concept of business rescue, and who now face the even more daunting reality of liquidation.

It is unknown at this stage why the business rescue failed, but we believe that this crucial information will be shared in due course.

The company is now in the hands of the liquidator to find all possible ways to resurrect the airline. This is a painstakingly long process, affecting employees and their families.

The domestic aviation sector in South Africa is extremely competitive, with many local airlines cutting costs wherever possible.

We are interacting with the airline in respect of the future prospects of our members.
