UASA appeals to all to exercise caution and adhere to the new Level 3 Covid-19 regulations

UASA fully supports the new Level 3 regulations to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.

The virus is spreading at an alarming rate and UASA is deeply concerned that our frail health care system may be unable to cope.

While the ban on alcohol sales at retail outlets and on-site consumption as well as the closure of beaches, dams, rivers and lakes, together with the extended curfew will negatively impact the economy and many businesses, it is a necessary measure.

UASA urges government to make relief available to assist the affected businesses and workers, especially those in the liquor, hospitality and the tourism sectors that are still battling to recover from effects of hard lockdown, in order to keep their doors open and the workers in jobs as well as further innovative, proactive ways to boost the economy and support growth, now and in future as we emerge from these uncertainties.

UASA appeals to its members and workers in general to wear their masks, keep social distance, wash their hands and sanitise. We must all exercise greater caution and adhere to the regulations as mentioned by Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa last night, especially in the declared hotspot areas, as we have not yet reached the peak of the second wave.

Together, we can fight and overcome the pandemic.
