UASA the Union would like to join the rest of South Africa in celebrating Human Rights day.
On this is the day we take a step back and look at the progress we have made as a country since the dawn of democracy in 1994. We identify those elements that we are still lacking on, together with all that we have achieved but can still improve. We are not where we need to be as a country. Corruption, crime, poverty, lack of jobs and opportunities still rob the nation of the promises of democracy but we are hopeful that when we look back, we can specifically identify and address these issues amongst others that have been evading us to better the livelihood of every South African.
Our constitution places issues of Human rights above everything else but the courts alone cannot achieve this without its citizens.
UASA calls upon all employers, employees and the Government to come together, combine our strengths and fight for the betterment of all lives in this rainbow nation. We have to make commitments towards safer working conditions and work places for all, creation of jobs and rooting out corruption else we will find ourselves in a worse situation than we are currently in.
Happy Human Rights Day to All.
