Feedback: Paper and pulp wage negotiations

Operational Manager Avril Kotze reports from Durban that the status of wage negotiations in the Paper and Pulp Bargaining Council is the following:

THE Union position:

Across the board increase of 8%

That the shift allowance be increased by 11%

A minimum salary of R8000.00 for the industry or the current to be increase by the agreed %

The Employers’ position

The employers offer 5% and want us to remove the other 2 demands

The employers have been given 7 days to consider our position and should they not accept or we don’t get an agreement we will have no option but to declare a deadlock.
