Agreement reached between UASA & Rand Water

The Amanzi Bargaining Council delegated wage negotiations to inter alia the Central Bargaining Forum of Rand Water. The parties agreed  on across the board increases of 8.5% for the esuing year as well as increases and changes to conditions of employment for the period up to 30 June 2019. Rand Water annual wage negotiations kicked off on 7 June 2017.

Rand Water is party to the Amanzi Bargaining Council but refused to accept that the council’s constitution supersedes the Rand Water CBF Constitution. Rand Water’s CBF Constitution required a higher threshold (number of members needed to be recognized) than that of the Amanzi Bargaining Council and during last year, UASA has been given notice by Rand Water that we don’t comply with the required Rand Water threshold.

Yesterday, 19 January 2017 at Amanzi Bargaining Council, it has been agreed that wage negotiations will start on 13 March 2017. That means that we have to submit our wage demands through to the council before 10 March 2017. Prior to then, we will engage with our members to obtain a mandate and prepare for wage negotiations.
