Idwala Carbonates wage negotiations started in December 2016. Our mandate was 8.5% across the board on wages as well as an increase of 0,5 % on housing allowance & paternity leave of 2 days per occasion. Deadlock has been reached with managements full and final offer of 7,2%. We have now referred the dispute to the CCMA and should we not be successful in reaching an agreement at conciliation, a certificate that the dispute remains unresolved will be issued which will then to allow us to ballot our members to go on a protected strike. It goes without saying that we will consistently be vigilant for opportunities to reach a settlement.
